Award-winning WA distillery says thieves took 12,000 whiskey bottles

"A large shipment of a critically acclaimed whiskey from Seattle’s Westland Distillery — including their Garryana 10th anniversary release — is believed to have been stolen from the distillery’s Burlington warehouse in July, officials from the distillery confirmed Wednesday.

The Skagit County sheriff’s office declined to comment on “an open, active” case — but confirmed to The Seattle Times that detectives are investigating.
...

The total loss is an estimated $924,000 in retail value, but Westland managing director Jason Moore said the Garryana is irreplaceable — because that whiskey was divvied up and aged in separate casks of rum, sherry, bourbon and Garry oak and then blended together. The stolen bottles, including the aging, took 10 years to complete..."

I don't recall. I was pretty drunk...;)

Tonight, and believe me it's metered out, my last bottle's dram of Abelour A’bunadh. Not showing off; I'm just a lover of sherry-casked scotch. Plus, my wife and I sold our business and it closes on Tuesday. So, I'm warming up ;)
Now, to sell the place in California and join the living in our place in WA full-time.
Cheers, everyone, this round is on me. It's a good night, here.
Have you tried GlenDronach? Big sherry bomb.

I was reading up on how that stuff is produced.

-Cheap grain alcohol is poured into a filthy cat box and allowed to steep for several days.

-The mixture is then passed through a strainer to separate the liquid from the solids and particulate.

-The liquid is then passed through the digestive system of a sick old woman before being bottled.

The Garryana sounds interesting. I’d have liked to try it…in case you know a guy who knows a guy.
The bottlings that I have sampled were all pretty tasty, but I felt that the liquid didn't really live up to the price tag.

If you are near Issaquah, head to the Black Duck in Gilman Village. I think they still have a bottle or two on the shelf.

So, I just happen to know the people and place where WestLand started - before it was named Westland. It all started in a garage space in Mason County.
I currently have: Flagship, beer cask finish - cask #1, wine cask finish - cask #1,Solum .... and Garryana. Matt, I would share a dram or two.
Sorry for their loss.

Been enjoying Gibsons Finest Canadian whisky, took a trip north of the border & picked up a case. With the current exchange rate cheaper than Costco!
