I'm going to get out this afternoon for a short float. I'll grab some video of both the marabou tail along with the schlappen and post 'em this evening.
You use the stiffer schlappen, correct? I think you had mentioned as much a good while back. That should help the jack-knife...

On these I'm using Schlappen, not Rooster Saddle. I like the swim action with the Shlappen. The tail wiggle is fun.

To be honest, I'm still trying to figure out how to fish the Rooster Saddle. So far my experience is they are better in slower water where you can give a pause and allow the tail to kick or jack-knife as you say. Lakes or slow moving tailwaters seem to be best but in the riffle-run or pocket water I just don't get a lot of movement out of 'em. I need to mess around with them more.

tweaking head colors a little bit. I really like the purple/pink mixture I've started using for half of my black heads so figured I see how it looks with white....Hopefully next time out the fish like it too.

a few more tweaks in engineering. This is tied on a shank with a swivel attached to a split ring to a short shank stinger hook. Super easy to swap hooks out, but I've gotta make sure this swims ok before I play with other stuff. Something like this could also accommodate a treble as well if one felt like doing so. Hook placement is the back third of the fly.

Added an underwing and changed the foam head tying sequence; when I try it his way I get way too much buildup and the head looks lumpy.

hook - WFC Model 6 #6
thread - Uni 6/0 tan
rib - tying thread (body only)
body - 2mm foam tan
overbody -2mm foam dark brown
underwing - Congo Hair shiner tan
wing - deer hair
head - 2mm foam tan
legs - medium rubber brown
indicator - 1mm foam orange
