Why is Pass Lake still closed

If it's a leaky pipe then they have to figure out spot load damage or aging leaky pipe. Spot damage, insufficient cover for conditions, leaking pipe will eventually soften the whole area and wash away. First they have to start an internal process . Then study. Maybe geotech report. Probably run camera in there. Then determine spot fix or total replacement. Draw engineered plans and prepare specs. Go through the competitive bid process. Schedule and get work done. Nothing moves fast through the bureaucracy. Process is set by law to provide accountability.
They didn't go through all that bullshit when the I-5 bridge went down.

I feel like I'm going to puke.🤮
If we're lucky it might be fixed just in time for the annual toxic algae closure. 😳

It’s been months since drove by the lake. But, from reading these posts it appears that other than closing the parking area, nothing has been done to address the problem. Including fixing any leaks in the pipe. Is the sinkhole getting slightly larger every day?
It's about the size of a toilet seat.

Nor did they when they patched a broken levee during the flood over here. Is it a simple fix? What if it's just filled then later it gives out and causes property damage or personal harm? Lawsuit, and people yelling wasted money. If you just have a contractor do it, some other contractor sues because you wasted money, they would have done it for less. Greedy people, karen's and some lawyers. Too bad we cant just trust people to be honest, use their professional judgement, and get 'er done anymore. We could I'm sure, but the system no longer allows it.

Just to bring it back to reality, there’s no way this would rise to the threshold of requiring an EIS. Nor will it likely need an EA (Environmental Assessment). They’ll have to do SEPA but that’s not really a big deal and the State has lots of practice with SEPA. They just need to get rolling because there is a time lag for every step. 1) determine what needs to be done 2) get the permits and bids 3) construction. And fingers crossed there’s no unexpected stuff at any step. If they’re just putting things more or less back to how they were then the permitting is usually pretty straightforward.

Skagit county parks director Brian just left me a voice mail saying he's meeting with the Deception Pass state park manager tomorrow to discuss the states plan (or lack of plan) and possibly timing of repair of the parking lot sinkhole situation.
When I spoke with him a week ago he told me he'd look into it and let me know what he finds out if anything.
My props to him for following through
promptly.👏👏👏
