They didn't go through all that bullshit when the I-5 bridge went down.If it's a leaky pipe then they have to figure out spot load damage or aging leaky pipe. Spot damage, insufficient cover for conditions, leaking pipe will eventually soften the whole area and wash away. First they have to start an internal process . Then study. Maybe geotech report. Probably run camera in there. Then determine spot fix or total replacement. Draw engineered plans and prepare specs. Go through the competitive bid process. Schedule and get work done. Nothing moves fast through the bureaucracy. Process is set by law to provide accountability.
It's about the size of a toilet seat. It’s been months since drove by the lake. But, from reading these posts it appears that other than closing the parking area, nothing has been done to address the problem. Including fixing any leaks in the pipe. Is the sinkhole getting slightly larger every day?
Nor did they when they patched a broken levee during the flood over here. Is it a simple fix? What if it's just filled then later it gives out and causes property damage or personal harm? Lawsuit, and people yelling wasted money. If you just have a contractor do it, some other contractor sues because you wasted money, they would have done it for less. Greedy people, karen's and some lawyers. Too bad we cant just trust people to be honest, use their professional judgement, and get 'er done anymore. We could I'm sure, but the system no longer allows it.They didn't go through all that bullshit when the I-5 bridge went down.
Nice work!Skagit county parks director Brian just left me a voice mail saying he's meeting with the Deception Pass state park manager tomorrow to discuss the states plan (or lack of plan) and possibly timing of repair of the parking lot sinkhole situation.
When I spoke with him a week ago he told me he'd look into it and let me know what he finds out if anything.
My props to him for following through
promptly.![]()
There may not be any favorable results but hopefully we'll know something at least.Nice work!
Evidently Pass lk is in the 10th legislative district.I would encourage any of you who live in the 40th legislative district to contact your rep ( Debra Lekanoff), and senator (Liz Lovelett), and express your concern.
