What Are You Eating?

Salmo goes full coastal cretin when the food discussion goes past meat and potatoes...but don't let him fool ya...he single handedly destroyed the state's fisheries, while drinking single malt.

Ponzu = soy sauce, lemon juice, konbu (kelp) mirin (sweet japanese rice cooking wine) & katsuobushi (dried, smoked and shaved skip jack tuna)

Daikon = asian turnip

Dashi = broth usually made from konbu & katsuobushi, used in many japanese soups

Wakane = type of seaweed

Lmk if you need any further interpretation…
Thank you from a charred red meat and taters kinda guy… 😁

Now you're being a bit harsh! While I grew up on a meat and potatoes diet, it did take more than a little help to destroy our state's fisheries while drinking single malt.

It's amazing what can be accomplished when nobody seeks the credit !!!

You're too modest...

If you REALLY want to learn pick up The Wok by J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, it's nominally a cookbook with LOTS of great recipes, but it's actually a textbook on the subject of cooking in a wok. It covers everything from heat, to ingredient prep, to experiments on the best way to do things, to recipes from across Asia. I've cooked a couple dozen things out of the book and they've all been great.

Thanks. That was just my steak. The friend that I was with had a 28oz Porterhouse.
That used to be my choice...Fisher Meats in Issaquah for the purchase, and a nice Cabarnet to wash it down with, big salad, and a mess of asparagus.
Not sure I could pull it off today, but YOLO...
😁

Well my first experience went well last night. Mongolian Beef and rice. I would rate it a 6.5 but my wife ate it up and gave it a 8.5. As always following the recipe is great to get started but until you experience the cooking and taste you will improve it with adds and subtractions as you get more experienced. At least that is what I hope for:)
