What Are You Eating?

Tried herb crusted lamb as a Saturday night treat using a Gordon Ramsay recipe, very good, maybe need a slight hotter oven re a litttle more browning but was carefully following the recipe as first time I’d tried it. Only bummer was I’m off alcohol for a while post the holidays. My wife said her cab went really well with it…

I'll have to look up the recipe as I have a small rack of lamb from Costco to make soon!

Speaking of Groce Out, or its close cousin. My brother habitually dumpster dives his local Aldi.
I know what you’re thinking, but don’t worry, he doesn’t live in the PNW. Chances are pretty slim he’s fed you that PERFECTLY FINE food.

Groups like Food not Bombs work with grocery stores to pick up that perfectly fine food, cook/prepare it, and serve it for free to the hungry. I volunteered with Food not Bombs in Flagstaff and it was eye opening how much good food gets thrown away.

Local food banks get food from grocery stores. I've volunteered at Hopelink and done sorting and pickups. Been there a few times too when people come buy to "shop". No requirements, if someone needs help they get it. They'll also help with some financial assistance for things like electric bills and transportation, plus many other services! It's not just food! Easy to sign up for, you do get an interview and have to pass a background check to volunteer. Very worthwhile if you have the time!

Pho tonight! Prepared the soft boiled eggs a couple of days ago, marinated in soy sauce and mirin. Tried a new quick broth, left something to be desired but was decent, not amazing.

Perfect for the time of year, or any day that end in Y!
