As one of those who had his post deleted, I can assure you there was NO sympathy towards Russia in that post. The idea that there would be any divide on this topic is a sad statement on the state of affairs in the US these days. I’m glad to see there is virtually nothing in the way of sympathy being expressed towards Russia’s actions on this thread
My deleted post contained language concerning this that was not quite so eloquent...unlike some well known talking heads and pols in this country. It’s damn obvious what’s right and wrong about this situation but I’ll be damned that some people can’t seem to figure that out.

I have to wonder how many of the Russian soldiers might have relatives in Ukraine or just from a humanitarian standpoint are struggling to be there?Reports of 450-500 Russians killed so far. Go Ukraine!
Or related, just how effective has Putin’s propaganda and misinformation been on troops and the Russian citizenry, and is it sustainable, especially as occupation may progress?I have to wonder how many of the Russian soldiers might have relatives in Ukraine or just from a humanitarian standpoint are struggling to be there?

I am including here a post that was just made from a frequent contributor on another fly fishing forum that I’m a member of. I haven’t read all of the prior posts here, but the idea of having a no-fly zone is a new one to me. I don’t know how this would be possible, but it is an interesting concept.
I’m not including the draft letter to the president and congressman that was included in this post, but you can get the gist of it:

1) its a shame its taken something like this to actually have CNN and out US media report the actual news for once.
Science fiction writers seem to reflect this as an extraterrestrial opinion as well.![]()
Since all Putins threats and nonsense began I never once believed that war with Russia was avoidable. I am ashamed that I was not this angry or concerned back in 2014.From a smart military blog yesterday...
"Okay. You launch fighters. Putin responds by moving in S-400 and S-500 air defenses to shoot them down. We now have to target those air defense to protect our jets. Russians warn if you do they will launch missiles against NATO airbases. What's your next move?"
Do we want all out war with Russia? I think the time to prevent this invasion has come and gone. Now we have to watch the consequences of mistakes and bad policies at all levels throughout multiple administrations over decades. Russia would lose an all out war eventually, their economy cant support it, unless China joined up. Now we have Axis 2.0, wars in Europe and Pacific WW3. I don't think China is that stupid they play the long game, they are thinking china 100 years + from now, but maybe nows the time? I dunno, it makes me sick this is all happening again in 2022. I have no doubt Russia would use nukes.
It’s damn obvious what’s right and wrong about this situation but I’ll be damned that some people can’t seem to figure that out.
Vote for 3, I've been thinking hard about that what if.We have 3 choices
1. Expel Russia from Ukraine
2. Accept Russian dominated Ukraine
3. Work within Russia to Instigate a rebellion against the Putin regime.
I prefer 1 or 3. 2 proves us to be the cowards Putin thinks we are and empowers all the other evil countries.
