TV...

I should be clear, the only things I will be watching is football, more football, and the occasional porn flick.

So in my defense, I'm not actually watching TV, I'm watching sports. Believe me, cable news or broadcast TV holds about as much interest as lawns do.

Yeah I'm definitely not a TV watcher. During the winter months, I use it to watch football and play my vidja games. Doesn't get used much at all between like March and September.

I do think it just depends on the TV. Hisense is a budget brand so I could see the Firestick improving the experience. I'm definitely not an expert on it or how it works. I was just under the impression it was an OS/app bridge of sorts.
 
It also keeps the ads the newer tvs have embedded in their operating systems from being shown on the home screen, as well as...wait for it...the new smart tvs collect and sell your data if they are connected directly to the internet.

This is what I have read, not owning one yet, I'm looking at all the various options for connecting, but...

"Vizio's own earnings materials showed its device business generating negative gross profit while its advertising, data, and services business generated the company's positive gross profit"

I did not know about selling data.

Looks like you can turn off that 'feature '.
 
I have read that you can.
I wonder if it's similar to how you turn off you location on your phone, or the listening feature on Alexa...etc.
Software toggles for location services or voice assistants do not completely stop background data collection or network activity.
 
If your device has a built in "don't collect my data" feature, and you believe selecting that keeps your data free and clear..... I have investment opportunities that need your attention. Please venmo @pinknightyallrighty for big returns!!
 
As long as the manufactures and content providers are for profit, hint they aall are, they will do it until strict laws are passed. Not crossing my fingers...

Now that AI is installed on some TVs, think it will get better? Think again! They will just bypass those 'controls'.
