TV...

Yeah 75 is too much TV for me, and the 65" is 40% more screen than the 55"...which seems pretty much to be a worthwhile increase without being overwhelming in the space.

I probably would have bought one last week, but delivery wasn't available before Wednesday...

Delivery for me was the deciding factor from Walmart, I watch football in the bedroom ,leaving the living room TV to the wife . Not wanting to miss any football that following Sunday ,Walmart was the choice , Costco couldn't get it to me in time ,same TV . Football is priority . :D The wife may have let me watch it in the living room , but I couldn't take that chance since the TV in the bedroom had quit . :ROFLMAO:
 
55", 65", 75" - wow, just hard to wrap my head around the sizes of TVs. It's been years now, but we replaced our old 25" box TV with a 40" flat screen that seemed so large. For a while. Now it doesn't seem large at all. We may need to upgrade some one of these days.

Was happy with a 13" when we got married in 1970 , now thinking of a 75" in the living room when the time comes . :oops:
 
I haven't bought a TV since my 32" crt back in the 90's...so getting a new TV is quite the deal.

Considering it'll be almost entirely football watching, it'll probably outlast me.

I had one of those too about that same time. With rabbit ear antenna. Never lived any where that I could use it. Probably sent it to Goodwill.

Honestly if all you're watching is sports, the TV speakers are probably fine. I'm usually yelling at the TV too loud due to Bama's constant eff-ups the sound is lost on me anyway...

If you also enjoy movies, then it'll depend on your set-up. If it's two-channel music oriented, it's not great regardless of the quality of the gear (need a center channel for dialogue). I really enjoy movies, especially those with a compelling music element, so went deep on integrating high-end multichannel into my music system once upon a time and spent a small fortune but in the end switched to a simple standalone option for the TV (center sound bar, sub and two small rears).

I found it better to keep my two-channel system separate and optimized for music - YMMV.

Room size will play a big role in the TV size. For 65" and above, you need some distance from the screen for the best experience. Lots of calculators online.
 
Yeah, I have an older 5.1 Sony...it's not a high end system, but used to use it in a small room where it did ok...plays music so I would listen to my old CD's in surround...
