The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

Fixed it for ya πŸ˜‚

Great FIFY!

And you are correct; I am not the best, nor even a very good, indicator fisherman.

For me, it is hard for me to concentrate on an indicator. Pure and simple as that.

I am also a person that enjoys feeling subtle takes. Probably associated to my moving water fondness.

Could I catch more fish using indicators? Most likely!

Catching more fish is not my objective. Catching bigger fish is, and I believe trolling does that.

BST is on it and HELL YES!
Not only will this old guy paddle his pontoon boat around all winter and freeze his scurvy feet off but I will even catch them on dry flies.
My goto Fav is the #14 Paraloop emerger. Orange one fellas.
Pontoon?? What about that fine watercraft you got today? Looks fishy me! You’re in….if your wife lets you……

I'm intrigued. I'd kind of like a clear, precise definition of a "lake dry fly". Do gurglers qualify? Also I would much appreciate any information regarding the "nuts and bolts" that anyone could recommend when it comes to catching fish on a "dry lake fly" on Pass Lake. I am sorely ignorant of the common flies and techniques that people use in this endeavor. Any info or guidance would (as always) be much appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Well….the weather wasn’t too bad today. I fiddle farted around this morning, then around 12:15
I decided to go fishing! As soon as I loaded my pram into the truck…it started raining??! Really? Rained pretty much all day but no wind, I have rain gear but no wind gear. A few fish were rising as I was setting up, maybe three minutes into it fish on! Had another almost to the net, SDR. Not quite a rodeo fish….(8 second ride) Left the lake at 5:00, 3/6 sight casting midge emergers! On the board baby!! Who’s next?? I brought bare minimum stuff, this and two bamboo rods with dry lines.

Sorry, but if it was raining you surely didn’t have a dry fly. It’s a dry fly challenge, not a surface challenge?

So tell us your in SurfnFish!occasional surf session...75 will do that
man, I would so love to, only our stillwater doesn't open up until April 22.

And I'm going to need to change my handle...the guy who used to surf 90% and fish 10% these days fishes 99% with only the occasional surf session during summer...age 75 proving once again Father Time remains undefeated.. :)

Where are you located? We’re lucky to have a lot of year round lakes around here. We rarely get ice on them so fishing opportunities are year round.

I’m in Burien, a little south of Seattle. Lots of lakes all directions in a sixty+ mile radius, some rivers and a decent SRC/rezzie beach four minutes from my house! Born here….die here.
