The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

So close. Fish hit the dry emerger while stripping in the fly. Of course I missed it, Fly was still 20 feet behind the boat so started stripping it again. Fish attacked the fly aggressively and I set the hook way too hard. The 6x popped and just like that she swam away with my paraloop dry emerger.
Fun day, c&r 7 on wet line. Fishing from pontoon boat made some very cold feet in 41F water.

I like the way you think but Steve would never let me get away with that. I watched him c&r 2 on the dry fly but the first one he missed was so amazing. I was looking right at his fly when this nice fatty swirled the fly only to have Steve pull it out of her mouth. Steve and I both yelled at the same time. So AWSOME!

So I braved the cold ass weather today for a few hours…..calm, partly sunny and fish sipping! 1/7 doesn’t sound like much….had three on, one to the net but seven hits on top was awesome! Still not as cold as winter steelheading in the past….nut deep in frigid water hoping for a tug…..at least this winter lake fishing I’m in a pram, fish are rising, Crown Royal and sitting comfortably! Anybody crazy as me yet???

Perhaps not many here feel that fly fishing really lends itself to being a timed, scored, counted and measured event. YMMV.

I agree! There is so much more to enjoy and pay attention to.
 
Phil and I braved the cold and fished today……beautiful calm day, some fish rising, decent midge hatch but the fish weren’t cooperating. Phil was making some perfect sight casts (with bamboo!!) putting the fly in the kitchen but no takers unfortunately. I managed 1/1 so at least we had a couple of shots of Crown to celebrate! Was great fishing and bs’n with you Phil! He’s determined to get on the January board…….still a wee bit o time left…….
 
I was definitely underdressed, and seriously cold by the time I got back to the launch. Live and learn… hopefully. Thanks for the anti-freeze Steve!
