The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

I like the idea, I just don't fish lakes much in the non bass/panfish season and even less so with dries for trout.

I'd love to see the results of anyone who gives it a shot though.

Yeah, I’m lucky if I fish Stillwater more than 2-3 times a year. With that being said, lucky isn’t the right word. I could care less about lakes. I’ll leave that for when I’m older and bushwhacking, hiking and wading is to much for my knees. Dries on the a river 12 months out of the year? Sure, I probably did that in 2024.

Dries, humbug. Count me out. I did the dry thing years ago. I'd rather catch BIG NUMBERS! Give me a fly with a BEAD on it!
Lakes fill that spring void when the moving water closes, and supplies some eating fish, otherwise I just prefer living flows.

Hmmmm…..lots of Scrooges! So when’s the last time you really were challenged fly fishing? Too good or not good enough? Won’t know until you try it!

I'm on a roll, how about a fish every outing on a jiggy craw?

Ducking down for cover while saying: bobber/indicator fishing are boring. Trolling, emerger and dry fly fishing are not.
Oh I have no problem taking shrapnel. Also, I never said I won’t do it. It’s just not my preferred way to fish. Especially if it’s in the 30s or 40/ (winter) I’d prefer to keep moving on the river

My preference are moving waters also. Between knee issues, balance is not what it used to be and my strength diminishing, I fish creeks and small streams a lot more than bigger, more challenging waters. Part of the reason i like the good fishing in Idaho and Montana. But the older I get, the more I fish lakes.

Lakes can have slow times or I can't get my line back out fast enough.

Took out a father and his two sons fishing. We all had 20"+ fish on at once on fly rods. Talk about boring...

Last summer I caught 4 18" - 20" fish in less than a half hour. Let my line out and sink while prepping to start trolling. Lifted my line and said the b of big one. The fish broke my 6 lb. tippet like it was just thread.

One needs to fish the right lake and then spend time to know the lake. Boring becomes fun and exciting most of the time...

Still holding out on cellphones….no camera either. If you join the challenge, then maybe!

I would like to join in BUT I am not a cold weather fisherman, even in a boat. How about a 7 month contest, March thru October?
