The original knife thread.

I'm assuming that shackle key is for tightening or loosening of shackles? That seems useful on a sailboat.
Yup. Not a super common accessory, but useful. I had a different one as a kid, while commercial fishing, but it broke. I probably pushed it beyond it's capabilities.

These are all sweet knives. That Cattaraugus is very special. I don't know if you know anything about them, but they have a cult following that rivals if not succeeds Case-XX collectors. The fact that it has MOP scales is icing on the cake.
Thanks! I'm guessing the Cattaraugus knife is an actual pen knife, used to cut nibs in quills. Just a guess. It takes a very shape edge easily.

Another oldie - This is a Remington pen knife from the 20s, possibly early 30s. It's not much, but since the reverse is stamped, Duofold, which is the same model of this fountain pen and pen set from Parker, and it uses the same, proprietary "Lapis" celluloid scales, I couldn't resist picking it up, regardless of the condition.

Nice set!

I've posted the top knife before. But here are two of them. Case XX pattern #6227, small Jack's. The top is a minty 10 dot (1970), and the bottom is a well loved 1940-64. When I found the latter, it had a broken tip, both on the under and on the spine of the blade. I think somebody might have used it as a Philip's head screwdriver. I did my best to profile it back into shape and I think it looks alright. Red bone scales on both.

I have one like this but labeled Washington net company Blaine Washington
I think the local sales rep was pretty prolific at the time. I've seen them for a rope company in Bellingham and for the paper mill in Port Townsend.

Wow, not sure how I’ve missed this thread but it’s right up my alley. As if fishing isn’t expensive enough? 😂

I’m a collector of Chris Reeve knives as well as Laconico adn a few Mayo and Pena knives. I see a some Chris Reeve and Laconico/MBK knives here. Nice!

This is most of the Chris Reeve collection and a few of my Laconicos.
