Puget Sound

Your second picture looks like the basis for @Wadin' Boot to write a story.πŸ˜†

In the story the love interest would have one good leg, one wooden leg, and every dialog line would be tortuous pirate speak

Stones: What's a wooden-legged beauty doing in a place like this?
Lady: Two years before t'mast, I've a marlin spike to clobber 'ye should ya come closer, without tribute that is, AARGH...
Stones: Wait, what?
Lady: Clobber ye, I will....

Hit the salt in the boat looking for SRC today. Better start today then Wednesday when I tried to do the same, only to have my truck battery die with the trailer in the water, truck on the ramp and a rising tide…oops. Luckily the ride was close to high because I worked a bit in the morning or that may have been a bad scene. Note to self, don’t shut off the truck on the ramp, even when self launching :). Called for a jump, threw a new battery in the truck and all is good.

Fishing today was solid. All fish caught on shrimp or baitfish patterns (chartreuse or all white). Nothing fishing worm patterns but that should pick up soon. A little chilly and damp but quiet with not another angler in sight. My truck was by itself at the launch. Got to love winter SRC fishing!

Slow day. First half hour was good and things went pretty quiet from there.
Tide sucked and I’m not a fan of flat, glassy water.
Sun popped out early then it go super foggy for most of the morning. Super nice day on the water.

The last series of kings tides coming up this weekend. 16'+ tides doesn't leave much beach.

It’s been a while since I’ve wet a line. Got a couple smaller Cutts. Not sure what they thought the fly was, but it loosely imitates a worm. Could be a shrimp?
Check out the scars on the back half of the first fish. These critters are so resilient.
The second one has a yellow dot on the lower back half that I have seen on fish over the years. Makes me wonder if they are from the same genetic line and same creek, or just a common trait similar to Cutts throughout the sound.

That’s a cool looking worm, man. 😁

I think the yellow spot is a thing across their range. That’s a relatively dark yellow one though, as far as they go, a fairly colored up looking fish which I suppose makes sense this time of year. Nice photos.

I believe the larger yellow dots are excessive pigment. I’ve seen it on a number of cutts caught in different marine areas.
That is a really cool looking polychaete worm.

That worm makes me want to tie a few of these on saltwater hooks or tubes:

I've also seen them chinook and coho

Yep
I caught a chrome steelhead out on the coast that half of its head was black. Really odd looking but super healthy fish and put up a nice fight. I assume that was the same deal, some type of odd pigmentation.
