After the dismal 3-7 start to the season they have gone 15-5, that's .750, the best record in the majors for the last 20 games without much help from some of their former standouts and dealing with injuries. It is a long season but right now it's good fun listening to the M's finding a way.?
Winning % of .600 right now and offensively near the top of the league: 3rd in HR, 6th in OPS, 8th in runs, 1st in walks, 3rd in SB. Fun to watch indeed. It certainly doesn't portend anything in particular going forward, especially in the face of mounting injuries, but Polanco is on an epic heater.
I've had to do penance for all the foul language I used last year whenever 'crazy eyes' Jorge Palanco came up to the plate. This guy is absolutely owning the dish right now. Anything can happen, but this is a different team than last year. Their hitting approach is so much better; preferring contact over 'perfect' contact. After the dismal 3-7 start to the season they have gone 15-5, that's .750, the best record in the majors for the last 20 games without much help from some of their former standouts and dealing with injuries. I love the Edgar/Dan/Seitzer message of "hunt for damage early/in good counts, fight for survival late in counts". The team batting average isn't there, but turns out you can score a bunch of runs by walking, stealing bases, getting into the bullpen early and often, and hitting bombs. Somewhere Billy Bean is smiling.I've had to do penance for all the foul language I used last year whenever 'crazy eyes' Jorge Palanco came up to the plate. Suck it Royals....lol. If you watched then you saw that Ryan O'Hearn hit one a foot below going over the fence. Would have been his second on the day and set the all time MLB record for 11 solo shots in a game instead of just tying it at 10. Gawd my O's suck.Well baseball fans, watch a game and you just might see something you're never seen before. Today was such a day. Watching those amazing young Royals in Baltimore, 11 home runs were hit, the first 10 of which were solo shots. First time in MLB history in a game with 10 or more home runs that the first 10 were solos. To my great pleasure though, the team with the fewest home runs in the majors, the Royals, hits 7 of the 11, a Royals record (previous was 6 in one game). Best of all, the Royals won the game 11 - 6. Kansas City has now won 11 of their last 13 and moved to 3 games above 0.500, at the moment, 2.5 games back of the division-leading Detroit Tigers.
Go Royals

"It was a complete embarrassment," said Staff Sgt. Steven Tischer, commander of the Colerain-Highland Ridge U.S. Army Recruiting Station that sponsored the baseball camp for 7- to 14-year-olds. "You don't swear in front of kids, that's just common sense. He dropped the F-bomb and the S-bomb. He told them winning is everything and if you get second place you're just losers.""His comment that he was (bleeped) off that Marge [Schott] didn't leave him any money in her will and that she left it all to the zoo. His comment about how Marge loved to smoke and she would have smoked in her sleep if someone was there to hold her cigarette all night. His comment that he saw Joe DiMaggio in the shower and he saw more of him than Marilyn Monroe ever did. His comment on a good friend of his that was a gambler - and how I could go on."
