Baseball 2025

First game of the year. I smiled when I heard he would be the starting pitcher.

His pitching was off this year and me having not played baseball I couldn't figure out why. Lot of youtube videos later it clicked he was leading his wind up with his knee, and swinging that towards the batter and not his hip first. When we got that fixed the excitement built and he wanted to pitch. He was throwing very controlled and more important for a 10 year old strikes!

2 innings pitched. 4 strike outs. No one on base.

Hitting has really taken off as well. He is getting close to hitting a home run. 2/2. Even with a 20-40 mph wrong way wind he clobbered it well into the outfield both times.

Since we practice a lot in the back yard together you can say I'm one proud dad🙂

Nice batting stance. Like his power elbow position slot. It won’t be long before you’re getting out the rye bread and mustard !!!!!

nothing better....was co-coach of my son's T-Ball and then Little League teams for ten years, most early evenings after work threw a 100 combo of line drives, grounders and pop-outs in the back yard to my shortstop, who once made the local rag sports headlines with an unassisted triple play during playoffs.
Miss the hell out of those days, enjoy every minute of it

Cherish these days, they go by far too quickly. Coached #1 son's baseball (T-ball, little league, and high school) and helped coach hockey (Overland Park Kansas Travel Team); so much fun, though sometimes it was hard not to show favoritism (maybe overcompensated), because, after all, he was the best player on the team :) ;).

Play ball!!!

Yeah there are thoughts on that. Regardless the elbow will drop in the swing so in a way that batting position is eliminating a few inches of movement. I can see both sides of the elbow positioning tho. If he sticks with it I can guarantee that coaches and even he will tinker, modify, refine both his batting and pitching.

Pitching > in my humble opinion stay away from the junk pitches as he ages. Stick with 2 and 4 seam fastball and the circle change up. When the mound moves back to 54’ or 60’ then slowly introduce the junk. And for kicks the knuckleball is a hoot. My kid at 13/14 had a major Tommy John injury. He was already 6’2. I was no longer coaching and the pitching coach had the pitchers on a strenuous schedule and it was to much for him and a couple others. (This was a select team). No surgery, he rehabbed and threw the football from that point on. Ended up 6’6” 230 played college football.

Just putting this here so we all have something to remember when it all falls apart in the middle of summer.

Oh ye of little faith.😎 If the pitching becomes close to what it was last year the M's could have a shot at more than mediocrity. It sure is fun watching some of those guys play a kids game and enjoy it.

Oh ye I have the faith we will see the Mariners every year in the playoffs. And my faith has rewarded me too. Every fall I see the Mariners in the playoffs and it’s the same damn roots sports rerun of the 1995 playoff game vs Yankees.
Nice to have you on board. 😏

I have to give props to Mariners fans.....the team sucks year in and year out.

But when they don't it makes it even more sweet. Good fun watching them play a kids game right now. They are starting to get a little swagger.

Just wish Julio could get a little of whatever Polanco is having for breakfast. And hope D Moore is not sidelined for long. A plus .300 hitter who can play 6 positions is a hard guy to replace.

In spite of my pessimism, there is some seriously good baseball going on right now. Wishing Gilbert a speedy recovery. 🤞

It s fun watching the Mariners these last couple of weeks. Not expected but very enjoyable.

The Mariners are leading the league in a number of categories. I am shocked! But I will take it!

We all know it won't last as there are ups and downs. But at least we know they are capable this year. Much better than in past years.

Lots of games left to play. Hope abounds...

Leading at playing 500 ball… now that’s quite the accomplishment. 😳
?

Winning % of .600 right now and offensively near the top of the league: 3rd in HR, 6th in OPS, 8th in runs, 1st in walks, 3rd in SB. Fun to watch indeed. It certainly doesn't portend anything in particular going forward, especially in the face of mounting injuries, but Polanco is on an epic heater.
