SFR AI imagining...it's fun!

Sorta fishing-related

Life of the Party
I got Gemini because it syncs with Google (whatever that means). $7 bucks a month for three months and $20 after. I'm here to tell you folks this is a ton of fun. Just imagine any fishing scenario and it will produce an image ofunnamed-4.jpg that scenario. I like to fish frog lures in the Lilly pads of Clear Lake

I would like to add that I am a total newbie and this is just an example of a very embryonic attempt at AI imagining .....That's what makes it so exiting.

Actually, I started this thread because I truly believe that other fisherman would enjoy the ability to create an actual image.... from just their imagination.
60 years ago I imagined a Bluegill that was tugging at my worm and making my bobber move... I'll see what I can produce in Gemini. In my mind, this is magicalunnamed-5.jpg

Maybe add a section for AI generated images so it will not clog up existing threads?
I had mentioned this to my colleagues the other day. While it can entertain in certain contexts, I have some strong opinions about AI generated images being used in most contexts. We'll have to take it case-by-case, but if it becomes an increasing problem, we will need to come up with those types of solutions.

To be fair, @Jim in Anacortes did title the post as AI, not trying to fool anyone - the issue is if folks try to pass AI images as real.
Oh absolutely. Having them contained in their own threads is great. Dropping them into legitimate fishing discussions in most contexts may be something we start curbing if it becomes an issue down the line.

One has to ask though, at what point is a photo considered AI generated and should be banned?
Fully creating a photo from words as those above which were openly specified as AI generated?
Taking an existing photo and having AI clean it up, change the clarity, coloring, etc?

I think you made the distinction yourself, one is made up, one is real, but cleaned up - If you add yourself into a photo using Photoshop, then that is no longer "real" and becomes dishonest unless you stipulate. Not sure anyone is talking about banning, just be honest.

In the "Stuff in The Sky" thread (https://pnwflyfishing.com/forum/index.php?threads/stuff-in-the-sky.247/post-5153), all images are real, yet they are cleaned up by taking many photos and "Stacking" them (I state this for each image), then using other software to "stretch" various color ranges and "bring the image out", but the images are real, nothing added - sometimes stars might be subtracted, but if I do that, I mention.

I wrote a self help book yesterday, took about an hour and I had to sign up for an $8 monthly plan with ChatGPT.

Seriously! It was easy, prompts all the way through. Based on my journaling and issues for the past 2 years!

It’s real, but manipulated.
So manipulating photos with AI is totally acceptable?
Im not arguing, just presenting a second side.
The AI “photos” above to me are to perfect, clear cut to be anything except AI. I would imagine with more skill a person could instruct AI to create them in a way that presents flaws.
