Ah - Rio! Hike a mile and half with a float tube, fins, net, fly boxes, two rods/reels, waders, food and a float tube only to break your floater in half. Oh, not ah, Rio. Oh sh--! Thanks to Engee thinking instead of cussing (I might have been), he square knotted the line back together.

As the weather deteriorated (it got windy with some pretty strong gusts), I went ashore to warm up, eat my PBJ and observe my friends deal with the wind.
I decided to fish from shore with that square knotted floating WF6F Rio Grand** fishing a vampire leech tied jig style, I hung it under a bobber.

Hey, a PNWFF hat and a smallish trout that took the vampire leech.

** For giggles, I contacted Far Bank and told them I'd hiked into a lake only to have my Rio line break. I asked them how often they hear about their lines breaking like this, their response: "I am sorry to hear about the fly line breaking like that. No, I have not heard of that happening."

I have 3 or 4 RIO Gold lines for 5 and 6 wt single hand rods. I think they’re great. It’s a long belly design and they perform really well with vastly different rods. I can fish a dry fly or an indicator and since the line has 3 color setons tell where the head ends where the sweet spot is and where the running line begins.

Back: Turkey

Ribbing: SM copper brown wire

Legs: Partridge feather

Hit a local beach and lake with @Kfish today.

Did alright hooking (4) but not so great landing (0) at the beach. One of those mornings. These two flies did the hooking.

Hooked to land ratio was better at the lake (5-7). Landed the skinny cutthroat below stripping a damsel pattern. The rest of the landed fish came on chironomids. I also lost a fish slow stripping a Bastia emerger.

No, I have not heard of that happening."
My typical response to that type of comment; "Well, you can't ever say that again!"

Oddly enough, one of the best casting setups I have is a Greys 10' 4wt with a Rio Gold line. The line is several years old and the setup doesn't get used on every trip but it's fun to use when I get a chance to stretch it out.

I put on a show with this little dude yesterday at a local power bait lake. When I got back to the makeshift boat launch and dock, know one would even look at me or talk to me😂😂😂 all fish were 6-12”

Walked in to a new lake. Gonna need a bit more fitness if I want to bring the tube and kick around for a day. Didn't need it though. Maribou and Simiseal leech. The pastel colored ones pulled hard into the bottom, and the ones with the gold backs would give several good jumps and fought all the way to the net.
