Soldiers for Salmon this weekend. Oh boy lots of boats out. Didn’t get a picture but fun watching them come back in around 1pm. Docks were full up and imagine the boat ramp at 10th street was very busy this afternoon.

Everett coho derby is next week. Edmonds was last week - won with a 8.33 pound fish, which is a bit pathetic!

I’m not sure what was going on. Creel reports. Coho derbies. Some influencer yapping on Instagram about how great the fishing is. Something was up though. An armada of boats ripped past my spot this morning at first light like there was a Bassmaster Elite series tournament going on.

That event might have added some of the boats you were seeing.

Anyone else see the pod of Orcas this morning? My photos don't come close to doing them justice.

Maybe a second wave of lostfishitis going around? Lost my best fish of the season right at the beach trying to tell if it was clipped or not. The fight felt more like a wild fish, but I'll never know for sure. Went with a more natural style clouser (olive/tan over white) today.

I had a close encounter with 2 orcas Sept 7th. I saw their dorsal fins on the edge of my peripheral vision as they were rounding the point I was fishing. They then submerged. I immediately backed out of the water and striped my fly line in. I then got my cell out of a ziplock bag in my wader pouch as they surfaced and blew 40' in front of me. It was better than Sea World! I was able to get a video on my cell as they were swimming away...but can't attach it to this response.
