His name is Nomar as in Ramon in reverse.Remember Omar Garciaparra? His stchick after every pitch was to adjust his gloves and then tap dance till the pitch was thrown. That routine was so boring and consistent that you questioned his mental health after awhile. He would not do well in today's game.
The fact is that he rarely left the batters box and was actually very quick at bat. His OCD style dance to keep his gloves and cleats tight did not slow the game. He was nearly always waiting on the pitcher. He also swung at a lot of first pitches. If they actually timed at bats in that era, I suspect that he would have been among the fastest in baseball during his time.
It may have been annoying to watch but it was not a factor in slowing the game down in any way.
