Two more attempts at small crab patterns for bonefish (size 6). Can’t be too heavy but need to land hook up.
Think I need to add a weed guard if a size 6 for Ascencion Bay?

For the ice dub veil, did you put it in a dubbing loop? I really like this

Pink Nighty

Life of the Party
The last two times up there I have almost stepped on some crawdads that were the size of my hand. They looked interesting while swimming along.
Growing up we set crawdad pots in our pond. After getting some really large ones, like 6-7", my dad decided that if there were bigger ones in the pond they couldnt get in the hole that came with the trap. Out came the wire snips and we opened the hole a bit more. That summer we caught multiple lobster sized crawfish. A meal unto themselves.

That summer we also introduced bass into that pond. Never saw the real giants again.

Melted Cased Caddis

Hook - Mustad 3906B or equivalent
Weight - Lead free wire (Optional)
Thread - Chartreuse and black
Case - Root beer pearl chenille or crystal chenille
Legs - Black hackle fibers
Head - Chartreuse and black thread
UV Resin

Tying Note

The chenille is tied on at the hook bend, then wrapped forward and tied off. Cut off thread.
The chenille is then melted using a lighter or other flame to create the case.
Reattach tying thread and finish the fly

That's very cool. Does flaming finish off the body, or is it also covered with UV resin like the head and hotspot?

Wait a minute? SMALL? HA!
Maybe its my hands that are small?
I don't tie or fish much small stuff, my boxes are about 1/2 size 8 flies. I have some small stuff, like 16 and 18 PT's, GRHEs, Griffiths, and Zug bugs, but I have no fine motor control and shake a bit from work injuries in my neck. I usually just don't have much luck with them small either. I like those eggstacy eggs in 14 though, those are easy and catch lots of fish.
I guess in my confidence fly game they are foods that are likely to be available year round, and big enough to be worth the fishes while to move for, size 8 hares ears, 6 3xl Pat's, size 6 and 8 stimulators and muddlers.
