Hackle -White bucktail tied in at the throat
Wing - Dyed black bucktail tied over the body
Cheeks - Grizzly hackle tip tied in at each side

Al Knudson originated this pattern in the early 1950s while he was residing in Everett, Washington. The original pattern has black bear hair for the wing.

If I remember correctly, the original pattern for the Knudsen Spider calls for a grizzly hackle tied under the mallard hackle. That is the way I almost always tie the fly. However, there are those that say the grizzly hackle interferes with the movement of the mallard. Something to ponder.
