The best Seahawk defensive player is the Bronco offense..
Penalties and turnovers. One gave the Hawks momentum and the other took the Broncos away. I expect the Broncos to improve seeing as how the first unit played very little preseason. I think 17 points is about what can be expected from Seattle with a few outliers either way.

No class in booing Wilson. But they're drunk football fans so what else can you expect?

and Coach Hackett....multiple head scratching moves (yeah yeah, including the obvious last play....there were many others). It really did look like a preseason game....just choppy all around. Fortunately for Den (maybe not so much for Sea) there are 16 more games in the season. I mean Peyton even started 2-3 his first season with the Broncos then proceed to end up with a 13-3 record that first year...that said, even John Fox wouldn't have made some of those mistakes.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well the hawks played, fun game to watch. I was hoping denver would run a few more plays at the end, 15 more passing yards from russ and I'd of had a new pole. Then they could have fumbled again.

That last play was an historically bad coaching decision. Worst I have ever seen. Makes Pete Carroll NOT giving the ball to Marshawn Lynch at the 1 in that fateful Super Bowl look downright smart.
Not only did it very likely cost his team the game, but it probably put some really negative thoughts in his new QB's head that will linger, and it certainly has his team and local media asking questions.

Lucky for the coach, he has a good-looking team that probably won't fumble twice from the opponent's 1 too many more times, and I think it's safe to say he's done trying 60+ yard field goals with 20 seconds, 3 timeouts, and a QB who has about 50 comeback wins to his credit. That should add up to better things to come.

All things considered, I think the Wilson trade will work out well for both teams in the end. Russ needed a change of scenery, and Pete Carroll needed a QB who's just glad to be starting and isn't feeling "held back." Fans don't expect as much from Geno, and that takes some pressure off both of them. Hopefully, Geno continues to surprise....

Yeah. Everyone thought Geno was so great last night, but he failed at his most important objective, which was getting 233 yards and winning me a prize, so ultimately, his night was a failure.

I watched all the post game stuff, including Geno’s and Russell’s press conference. I think Russell tried to brush off the boos but it seems like it had to have bothered him. I really liked Geno at the podium! (And his suit!)

On Komo news they had a video that was about Russell Wilson, how we loved him in the beginning and how Russell “changed”, giving insight into his departure. I think Eric Johnson was the one narrating it. I wanted to post it because it was exactly how i have felt about Russell for awhile but i couldn’t find it online. Did anyone else see it?

I will say, except for the Bronco’s penalties, i was surprised by the stats at the end of the game.

Go Geno Go! What a great start!

I was surprised that Hackett chose a 64 yard FG try that was under 7% probability over a fourth & 5 Russel Wilson play that was 50% probability...

I thought it was pretty telling when Russell said they'd tried to trade him before. It seems there had been some long-running tensions on style of play and Seattle knew that it wasn't going to change. Seattle's 3rd down conversion rate has been mid or bottom 3rd for the last several years, and I think a part of that is on Wilson for wanting big plays instead of taking the dink-n-dunks. Constantly letting the opposing offense back on the field and gassing your defense isn't a great way to win.

This. If the donkeys had played just a little bit cleaner I don't think we'd have won. I'm happy for the win, for sure, but we also didn't score in the 2nd half. Hard to imagine winning a lot more games if we don't score for entire halves. But they played hard tonight and it was great to seem them come out on top.

No complaints. Seattle and Cleveland both won, Browns in much more dramatic fashion - rookie first game drains a 58'er in a rush, no timeouts left...to snap an 18 year Game 1 dry spell.

How is the Wilson MVP campaign going so far ?

His stat line was 29-42 340 yards 1TD and 0int's...last night's loss for Denver was about fumbles and penalties. Everybody wants to talk about the final play but if they don't fumble twice inside the 1 it never comes to that.

I fished with Coach Cable back when he was the Hawks O-line coach...just the 2 of us for 12 miserable hours. I asked him what Wilson was like. His response was, "we love him on Sunday's". It was very obvious that coach Cable didn't like Wilson as a person.

We've heard Wilson's main gripe was not being able to put up big numbers due to Pete's system and philosophy. Well, he got him some stats last night.

Broncos opinion writers seem to be blaming the coaching, lack of preseason play for the starters, and preexisting problems for the loss. Wilson isn't getting any heat. And to be fair, I'm not sure he should. He didn't lose that game for them.

No Wilson did quite well. I was hoping he'd shit the bed.

The KOMO video ( edited to correct my previous comment that it was KIRO) i referenced earlier had a quote about Russell. I had to look at my recording again and write it down. But this sums it up for me:

“He did win big for Seattle. He’ll be in the NFL Hall of Fame. And in the hearts of many, he’ll always be a Seahawk. For some though, just another guy who said all the right things and then left town. To put it in Mariner terms, he could have been Edgar. Instead he’s just A-Rod.”

(continuing the movie theme) If I was at the game I would have given the stink-eye to anyone booing Russell Wilson. Same as if you strapped me to a gurney Hannibal Lecter-stye and wheeled/made me go to a Pearl Jam concert. (too soon for Foo Fighters..right @Jojo ?)

Wilson saved the Seahawks' skin so many times in his career in Seattle..he deserves far more respect, imho. Greatest Seahawk ever.
