Walt was the greatest of his era at the position...
Largent was great, but there were others who were great too.
Jones was a guy any team would take and replace their pro bowl/ all pro guy with and get a significant upgrade.

Cortez Kennedy would be up there as the best Hawk ever.
Totally dominated, defensive player of the year in 92.
Played on some just shit teams, some of which were lead by ex Notre Dame QB Rick Mirer.

It'd be between him and Walter Jones for me.

8-8 in 95 when Mirer was a train wreck with 20 picks and like 10 TD...miracle they won 8 games
 
This is a really interesting listen:
Richard blames Russ for the no timeout at the end...I tend to agree. It was a painful lack of time management and leadership for both the QB and coach.

All these hawks fans banging on Russ does seem a little like someone who bumps into their ex at a party and continue complaining to their current SO about their ex.

But hey, that's cool. You may have got a hot one right now, but she's damn crazy with no redeeming qualities. I've got one who initially comes off as a little crazy but it's just a little more maintenance than I'm used to to make it worthwhile.

Congrats though, nice escape win.

I wish I was....I was a little irritated this morning thinking about lost opportunities, but ya know what fishing does? It wipes that (and any other) slate clean.

Well that was quite a weekend of upsets. Makes me wonder how much it has to do with preseason playing time. Seems like lots of playoff teams rested their starters almost the entire preseason, while younger teams needed to get new guys reps. I wonder how much the 17 game schedule has to do with that? On one hand, game 1 counts for the same as game 17. On the other, getting a guy hurt preseason would certainly suck. I think a lot of teams go with the "just win early games somehow and its a win-win" theory. One truth about professional sports is that anybody can beat anybody, they are all professionals.

And just in case, I'm not talking about any particular team or games.
