NBA Playoffs

Marcus is a world-class flopper, too.

Marcus is a lot of things.

It takes a lot of awareness to be able to know when and where to flop to get a call. the positioning of the ref etc. all matter. I favor a punitive embellishment rule like Van Gundy does. As long as it's not punished and the risk reward is there, players will do it.

I do love the way Smart defends all night and the way he drives to the hoop hard. He is an exceptionally smart player. He definitely does flop.

NBA rule change and refs have done a very good job this season of reducing offensive foul-baiting by shooters jumping into defenders. Great change for the game.

Now they need to catch up on defensive flops.

Similarly, seeing defenders rush to establish position, solely to draw a charge (which both Boston and Miami do adeptly) is weak sauce IMO. 95% of those instances, the defensive player wouldn’t be able to stand still if not hit by the offensive player. That’s not a charge in my book. That’s a transient defensive block.

Agreed. Great time for a no call.

Neat article in 538.com about Mr. Smart for the stat geeks out there. I am a huge Smart fan obviously. He is a basketball savant in my opinion. His effect on the game is so great even when he struggles to shoot. I was a poor shooting PG. I have a soft spot for that brand of player.

I can't really argue about Smart and his "flops", but then again, one could probably make a similar "mix-tape" on lots of elite NBA defenders. Ever watch Rodman? The dude was one of the best defensive players ever yet also one of the best floppers ever (coming from a hard core Bulls fan from back in the day). or, on the offensive side of things, Harden was the master of drawing "fouls" until they said, 'nope'...

Bottom line though, Heat have to step their shit up....give Jimmy some support on both O & D side of things.

But, damn, the GS game! The Dallas Doncic's are taking it to the Warriors! Honestly, I'm really hoping for a Dallas/Miami Finals, but even with the current game going on, I'm afraid we're going to get a GS/Boston Final's series.

Whatever happens, I'll likely be rooting for anyone but the C's (no offense, but they've won enough over the years).

Dallas: I used to live there, so I've always had a soft spot for the area teams minus the Cowboys--always hated those fuckers! part of the reason I became a Broncos fan as a kid (well, that and John Elway).

Miami: I've always loved Jimmy Buckets; really want him to get a ring plain and simple.

GS: I've always loved watching Curry & Klay play...plus, I've always been a Kerr fan (back to the Bulls fandom from my childhood)

Celtics: Their fans remind me of Raiders fans, always living in the past....(oh wait, sorry). But, no, I actually like how they play the game. solid D, plus JT seems like a solid all around dude (not to mention he's pretty decent at playing the game of basketball--you know, dribbling, passing and making a ball into a round thing with a net).

All of that said, GO MAVs and HEAT!!!!

Gary Payton must be a hell of a father. And as much as a NBA villain the Warriors are, mostly for winning too much I think, they do create the best team environment out there.

I'd love to see GP2 come back for the finals and I sure as hell hope they can bring him back next year.

I have sat through a whole bunch of leadership and classes and initiatives at work over the years and the warriors show every sign of being the best run organizational culture I have seen.
1. A coach who lets players be themselves and uses the players strengths while helping to cover the weaknesses. Cares about each player as a human. He emphasizes teamwork and it is very evident.
2. Players who are willing to do whatever helps the team. Green is a prime example. He is a talented guy who could be more of a scorer, but would rather give himself to making everyone else successful. Steph Curry is the star but doesn’t dominate the ball or worry about who gets to score. His constant movement creates countless opportunities for others, etc.
3. Upper management support is incredible both financially and understanding what parts are needed to keep the team strong.
All of this makes for a happy work environment and feeds success.

Love them or hate their success the Warriors are an amazing example of what a great team workplace looks like. I wonder if KD has figured out how great he had it there yet.

Tatum only 10 points…combination of great defense and a bad night shooting…hopefully it won’t happen again…

U nailed it...their team culture is unsurpassed, and Kerr is a class act who sets the tone...and no one plays with more joy than Steph...Shaq calls Curry his favorite player in the NBA, and The Diesel knows BB

How low did Chuck set the bar the other night, fans chanting 'Chuck you Suck"...one of his replies to the crowd was "I'll fuk your mama"...beyond out of line

speaking of Rodman, check him and Karl Malone at the 5:30 mark...that was a different NBA...and Rodman left merely different way, way behind..

Tatum only 10 points…combination of great defense and a bad night shooting…hopefully it won’t happen again…

Well, Jimmy only had 8...

I just hope he doesn't miss any time.

I'm just glad there was a Bam sighting....hopefully, it wasn't a one off.

edit: hopefully, we'll at least get one game where everyone plays and is relatively healthy (for both teams)...that would be cool.

...their team culture is unsurpassed,

Great team but I’m a bit unclear on the role of “culture” … did they lack culture in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons? Seems to me they lacked some elite players. They have the best shooter in the league, good coaching has them moving the ball well, and they have vets with playoff experience. What is the culture? Honest question.

Culture is the overall social behavior of an organization...since hired in 2014 Kerr has stressed creating complete trust among the players in each other and in the system, building teams designed and coached to be greater than the individual pieces. The team pays their players, you only hear mutual respect out of management and players, and the players love the ball movement system, everyone touches the ball.

Take tonights game - Donich got his 40+ by taking most of the shots with many of his teamates standing around.not touching the ball...whereas no one on GS got 30, everyone on the floor was in constant motion passing and setting up shots for whoever was open..one play tonight, GS passed 5 times, missed the 3, got the rebound, passed 3 more times, missed a 2, got the rebound, passed twice and got a dunk on a slice-in..10 passes, two offensive rebounds and a score...who's more fun to watch, what system could be more fun and rewarding to play in? And that's their culture.

I agree ,if you want to watch the Mavs ,then you get to watch Donich. Watching the Warriors is totally different team to watch .
