Thanks. I've been out of the tuna game for 6 years but that wasn't a "typical" fly when I was flyfishing for Tuna. It looks great, but my only concern is that artificial material tends to bind up to other materials when there's underlying turbulence but I'm sure you have that figured out.
Next year I might try it again, but tie it like a kreelex. 2 short stations of material, one on the hook and one on the mono to minimize tangling. Smaller stouter hook could be better too, hard to say.
Oh gotcha, interesting, thanks. The fiber and feather portion of the fly seems like a pretty straightforward mostly synthetic baitfish to me which is a template that I think has been around for a bit (surely more than 6 years) so I’m curious what you consider to be a typical PNW albacore fly.

I misspoke. I meant the blade was atypical. My point (poorly made) is that with all streamer profile flies, synthetic materials don't behave the same way as natural materials and as a rule should be used sparingly in combination. It's not about Tuna flies per se.

You're hearing the highlight reels. Reality is vast majority of boats are scratching a few out at best. Here was my validation yesterday (I called it off after prepping to head out for a Sunday tuna sesh)

Hah, they could be. I also don't follow reports from anywhere north of Ilwaco or South of Newport (I don't really tow to Newport for Tuna anymore though either). So they could be plugging boats on the regular in NW Washington and I'd never know about it.
