NFR What Are You Drinking?

Non-fishing related
Piping hot chocolate, held in an ergonomically pleasing 15 oz tumbler with a powder-coated finish of navy blue, evoking emotions that warm the soul, befitting of the steaming coco within. The double-walled thermal tumbler is adorned with the classic PNWFF trout logo, giving it an elite look, unmatched by mugs of lesser stature. This tumbler will not only keep your favorite beverage at the desired temperature, hot or cold, but will be the envy of friends and neighbors.

Cheers

Be sure to show us what that brew looks like in the glass!
Might be a while before I open the second, it’s bottle conditioned so no harm keeping it in garage. Was the last of it at store so waiting for occasion to finish it.
Here’s a more common Belgian that’s become a favorite, light enough for a summer drink as well.

Had this one on tap in France, delicious!

I like that one on occasion, too.

Interesting. Typically, the super-aged blends don't carry an age statement. For a blended scotch whisky, there are usually 20-40 different malt whiskies in the blend that are added to a "canvas" of grain whisky. When an age statement is printed on the label, each of those different whiskies (including the grain) must by law, have been matured no less than 21 years. There are likely whiskies in the blend that have been matured longer than that. Mizunara oak makes for a great finishing cask too. Floral and fruity. Nice score! Slainte mhath!

Wines I served for a birthday dinner for my youngest daughter…
Did you get those at Grocery Outlet??

I have a personal "wine sommelier" at the East Wenatchee Grocery Outlet store. I need to stop in a get a travel supply for my trip down to California.

With the collapse of the retail wine market there are some great wines for under $10 out there.

Wait, the retail wine market collapsed? Not sure if I should rejoice or curl up in fear.
Yes, people are cutting back and the kids these days don't drink like to drink much! Support your local wineries! I won't be able to anymore.. for health reasons. invest in Whiteclaw and Truely! The NA space is on fire now too! The Athletic Brewing is a good NA beer and tons of other options out there.

Rejoice.

The following wines were all five to six dollars with the 25% off sale at Grocery Outlet that I am drinking now.

Double Canyon, Columbia Valley 2022, Cab
Firestone, Santa Ynez Valley, 2021, Cab-Franc
Gordon Estates, Columbia Valley 2019. Syrah

It use to be Grocery Outlet's best wines were Portugese, Spanish, and French wines. I never thought the French would finally learn to make a good inexpensive bottle of wine!! It only took 50 years.

Then there were the Paso Robles wines, before anybody paid attention to them. And you would have to purchase Zinfandel or some other "secondary" grape. The Red Wine Blends were outstanding in many cases. Hard to be a hard-core wine snob if your drinking a red blend.

Now you find Washington wines, as well as California wines from some of the lesser known wine regions.

My doctor thinks I should cut back on my drinking. He doesn't view a bottle as a single serving.

Life is more enjoyable sober, but not as interesting.
