NFR What Are You Drinking?

Non-fishing related
Tonight, and believe me it's metered out, my last bottle's dram of Abelour A’bunadh. Not showing off; I'm just a lover of sherry-casked scotch. Plus, my wife and I sold our business and it closes on Tuesday. So, I'm warming up ;)
Now, to sell the place in California and join the living in our place in WA full-time.
Cheers, everyone, this round is on me. It's a good night, here.

I like that cask strength Scotch, but while I usually drink Scotch neat I like that one better with a splash of water.

the_chemist, not dissing your drink but the Wiki page, (I had to look up what it was), is hilarious:
"Known for its extremely bitter taste, Malört has been described as "infamous" and "the worst booze ever"
John Hodgman said Jeppson's Malört "tastes like pencil shavings and heartbreak."
:D

Did a rails to trails ride (39 miles) yesterday west of pdx, vernonia, and stopped at Steeplejack for payoff, and a bite to eat . this stuff was great - to me, and went down well, when i was dying for a beer. its a little high on the alcohol for a hi-temp summer drink a thon, but i kinda like the taste.

For some reason, I never noticed this thread. Just went through the whole thing and made some notes for future investigation...

I'm not much for spirits except in sweet fruity drinks while on vacation somewhere hot, but I am prone to choose my food to match wine instead of vice versa. This was from the other night paired with a trip-tip roast, redneck polenta (grits ordered from Nora Mills in GA), and a simple green salad. It's juuust getting there. Looking forward to having it again over the coming years.

Finished the dregs of a Turley Zin (can't remember which vineyard) and a Mark Ryan Long Haul, both from mid-teens vintages, while waiting for the food to be done.

One of my favorite Rhône wines…”Castle of the Pope” …I’m still sitting on a half dozen bottles from this producer

I've really come around on CdP. For a long time, my Rhone focus was very limited to Guigal Cote Rotie, especially the single vineyards in the rare times my wallet and the vintage lined up. But over the last few years, we have shifted to the southern Rhones, probably driven by food choices. Great stuff!
Beaucastel's US outpost at Tablas Creek can be awfully nice too. Really enjoyed a visit to their facility a few years back.

Been getting a tropical buzz lately with pineapple juice, club soda, ice & the usual suspects.....
