Part 1 Gunnison Gorge, Part 2 Green River

The trouble with fishing that section is you forget to look around. Absolutely stunning red canyon.

Love that place.

The canyon on the A section of the Green remains one of the most beautiful and spectacular rivers I've ever seen. And the fishing's pretty good as well.

As beautiful as A section on the Green is, I have to admit the Gunnison Gorge might be the most beautiful float I’ve ever done…my pictures don’t come close to doing it justice.

I’ve fished the Green below Flaming Gorge for several years now…this was the first time doing A & B section in one float…16 miles

Brute, thanks for taking us along. Can’t imagine what the Gunnison feels like from down there. Drove to the river from the N/P entrance two years ago down the multi switchback, sometime 12 to 14° descent road which had serious pucker factor when meeting an oncoming vehicle on the way back up.
That’s a long one day float, both A&B. Two very distinctly different sections with a lot of history along with a lot of great fishing. Last June I booked a week in ‘25 prior to heading up to Montana then Alaska.
A lot of history also. Major JW Powell camped across from the Little Hole launch/takeout when exploring the Green and Colorado in the 1860s and the opening scene in Jeremiah Johnson, Robert Redford’s movie was filmed there also. A very unique and historic location. Can’t wait for the complete visual travelogue. Thanks!

Looks like you had a great trip. Weather has been awfully mild and warm over here for October. I was just down below you last week for 4-5 days. Fishing wasn’t red hot, but we only threw streamers and dries, well just because. Only had to go to Dutch for ice once. Stopped in Malala at the little family run cafe on the way home. Still the best burgers and shakes in Utah! Big fan of a Cutthroat Pale Ale after fishing (near) the Uintas.

Food's not much to talk about in Dutch John, but man, what a fishing headquarters.

Good luck!
Decent to good grub @ the Red Canyon Lodge on the other side of the dam.
