Shops newsletters, reports and... hotspotting?

I do note that my "local" fly shop in the Driftless Area only speaks in generalities about streams: Average temperature, clarity, maybe hatches in the area. Fortunately, most Driftless Streams are similar in nature and so to say "river levels are dropping" is valid on all area rivers. They only add, go upstream to find clear water after heavy rain, but that's not hotspotting.

I buy (online) from Rancho also, as I like beans and eat them a lot. So many different kinds available, and so trying new types is always interesting to do.
I do an Italian bean braise with some really big white beans, sausage, tomato etc. and love it. Got 'em at Rancho first, but found them cheaper elsewhere.

I can remember a job interview of a young recent college graduate. I asked him ' where do you expect to be in 5 years". He said "a VP". I explained to him in a large company (200k employees) like this it took me 10 years to get into management. His response was " obviously you are not good".
