Not a race car just a cool Sunday driver.then you'd need to find some Sunbeam Tigers to race. Buddy had one, was a hoot on the twisty roads of the coastal foothills where we lived...Hendrix or Cream playing on the after market eight track..and yes, we did inhale

I had a 1970 Torino when I was 20-21. I bought it for $800 from a mechanic friend. It was a four door, and just had a 289 in it, I think from like a 65 Falcon or something. It had been three on the tree but my friend made it a three on the floor. Sometimes, if you didn’t shift just right, it would get stuck in neutral between 1st and 2nd gear and so I’d pull half onto a curb if I could, crawl under with a 9/16” wrench and unjam the linkage. It did have a factory hood scoop, and a 4 barrel edelbrock and some kind of aftermarket electric ignition, but it wasn’t fast by any means. Kinda fun though. There’s just a feeling you get from driving those old cars. Not a race car just a cool Sunday driver.
If I was going to build a race car it would be a 1970 torino super cobrajet with the drag pad option. Then build the motor and narrow the rear end.... all real racing is done in a straight line with a big heavy car...![]()
That thing behind the back seats, is that like an elephant liver or some kind of raft of organ meat? Also you know that would be fun to slow roll Alki in, playing "more than a feeling" on the factory speaker as loud as it can go.The Vanilla Ice of vehicular transport.
It is actually the hyde of several naugas, for your information. That thing behind the back seats, is that like an elephant liver or some kind of raft of organ meat?
Oh totally, except rather than the factory speaker, it could be like my friend Stu did and put in an amp hooked up to custom tweeters. Ideally it would come through on an AM radio station. Also you know that would be fun to slow roll Alki in, playing "more than a feeling" on the factory speaker as loud as it can go.
Driving through Greenwater in my Datsun 2000 got pulled over playing this too loud:
Fun times for sure!

Had a ‘67 Datsun 1600 roadster in ‘71, lusted for a 2000; they were so much faster and more reliable than the competition. Started looking for one in 2011, came across the Miata and decided that suited me better. Modern safety equipment and air conditioning is a big plus where I am. Nice 2000s are bringing $$$$$ today.
drool...350/350?My current classic - 1937 Ford. Pic pre-pandemic. I need to bring it out of mothballs...
