What's in your vise?

Sorry on the focus! Australian possum on the tails, medium gold wire rib over either possum or other dubbing. Two flys have a pheasant collar, two have an oversized griz. Pheasant philoplume head Ala Gartside original Sparrow.

Things are certainly fuzzy around here, but maybe this shows better…

Tied on a Klinkhammer hook; extends the body a bit more than scud hooks I’ve been using.

hook - WFC Model 30 #10
thread - SemperFli 8/0 tan
butt/rib - H2O Twist tan
body - Ice Dub tan
wing - Congo Hair white
head - 3mm foam tan
legs - medium rubber golden stone (Sharpie barred)
indicator - 1mm foam orange

Regards,
Scott

I see you had to do at least one with a bi-colored tail.
What line are you fishing these with? Are they unweighted? Boat or shore or both?

Both and it depends. From the boat likely the I/3/5 OBS. Dependent on the beach, the I/3/5 or a straight intermediate. Some boat spots the I/9 might get used.

It's interesting because that ends up being a pretty different presentation from what I usually have the most success with, but I'm not fly fishing the true "Sound" for pinks all that much. My go-to fly setup is a 12-14 foot leader with a relatively heavy, jiggy fly, and, well, jigging it. I have definitely gone to sinking lines a few times but it's not my go-to. But if you're out there and they're deep, they're deep, and then you probably gotta get the fly deep to hook 'em. Anyway, I guess we can chalk it up to there's more than one way to sand-panko a humpy.

Honestly, the intermediate would probably work fine for pinks in the boats spots I fish. You’re targeting fish porpoising on the surface usually. I tend to use the I/3/5 for coho so just use it for pinks too and it’s worked fine. Far from an expert here though. Never really targeted them specifically from a boat until 2023 so sure my technique will get more refined over time I imagine.

Heading to Lac Seul, ON for walleye, smallies, northerns: first Ontario trip of 2 this summer. The lake has lots of craws, so I tied some up in orange and olive. Not pretty, because walleye, smallies. We catch them sometimes on a jig with gummy worms and gumdrops... like... the candy, lol.

But then I read a couple articles saying SM will hit one-clawed craws 70% more often than intact craws. Hmm. So:
The OCC!

If they eat these, I'll clip some of the orange ones, too!

Heading NE in the am, with some Clarkman monsters under my arm for the pike, as well...
