I like the cone for the extra weight! I was thinking today about how to add more weight to my big clousers to get them down a bit deeper. I may have to copy your technique.
There is the cone Alaska Brass 3/8 size, as well as 0.35 wire on the entire hook shank. Also, xl tin plated lead eyes.
Black Nose Dace
Another version has oval tinsel ribbing that is not specified in the original but was later added.
White, black and brown bucktail can also be used for the wing.
Had a good morning using these balanced leech couple days ago. Used them on the end of a naked line technique..
"Naked" as in long leader and cast/count down, or dangling as in vertical with a full sinking line, or? I really like your balanced leeches.
I fish it like an indicator without the indicator. Long leader, countdown, slow retrieve with two flies. Only the one on the point is weighted..

Just a suggestion though it’s totally personal preference. Maybe consider turning the stinger hook point up?

I was wondering if it would make a difference. Most of the videos I’ve seen have the stinger pointing down. I figured it might help keel but what do I know? Any particular reason you prefer point up?
Just a personal preference but mainly for fish I intend to release purposes.
I’d rather hook a fish in the top of the mouth rather than the tongue area if they get the stringer hook. There is no guarantee that a hook point up on the stinger won’t at times hook the tongue area, but I think it helps decrease the chances.

That's a good point! I'll switch them around. I'm hoping for some keepers but it sounds like there are plenty of wilds mixed in so better safe than sorry.
