Did you tie a Teeny Nymph out of some carpet from a beach rental? Major cred if you manage to catch something on that! What's not in my vice. At the beach but forgot my tying kit at home. Brought the spin rod and I have a half dozen or so surf perch flies, but couldn't help trying to tie a passable shrimp fly. Not pretty but should fish OK.

Not quite but close. I salvaged the white cord from a baseball cap, have a bit of pink yarn in my spin stuff, then used scrap 12lb mono to wrap the body. Not fun with no vice so likely I'll have to make do with the few flies I have.Did you tie a Teeny Nymph out of some carpet from a beach rental? I'm liking the MacGyver thing you got going on...Still kicking myself for forgetting my beach tying kit. Especially since I stupidly left a fresh batch of surf perch flies in it. No fly shops nearby, so hit Freddy's in Newport.
Got some egg yarn, #2 Siwash, stretchy thread, super glue and markers. Couldn't find any decent flash material so cut a pop tart wrapper into thin strips. Then used my fishing pliers which kinda worked as a vise.
Not pretty but I think these will fish.

Super glue made "tying" much easier by saturating the yarn.

Made some legs by coloring stretchy thread.

I do like a creative challenge... preferably not self induced.I'm liking the MacGyver thing you got going on...

Thank you, they were just super. Eventually broke the copper one off on a nice fish. I've been trying the SA Absolute Stealth Green tippet because that's what was in the store, and it just seems to fail more often than the regular plain old Freshwater tippet I prefer. That’s looks like a fish catcher!
