Caught this wrong kind of invasive!

🍻

swam beautifully though!

Been three weeks since I got out, but I got mom settled in her place for now and she had a smile on her face last night. I think this is going to work Since I've gotten used to driving a lot, I decided to put some miles in. Got to fish in a stunning place, and although I got some alone time, I won't hotspot someone else's playground. Fished my favorite low water early summer setup, an ECH, Diving Caddis, and BHGRHE on the 4wt Recon.

Fished just like the hatchery I'm used to.

Although I don't find these in my usual haunts.

Happy Fourth of July everyone. May the United States of America continue to be blessed as a fantastic place to live.

Looks like the summer run ate the EHC? On the swing?

They all worked. This one ate the hare's ear slowly swung then lifted. It was the best fly all morning.

Thought I'd drive once more before it gets too hot. Fished a bit higher with a hares ear and a stone.

Pretty little fish.

And lots of 'em.

Guess the 4wt isn't quite enough stick for summer runs, especially if you're and idiot and hold it straight up to keep the leader from hanging up. The middle broke first, the tip I think dragging through a rock garden, then the tippet broke and the fish left with my fly. Been 34 years since I broke a rod, time to see about contacting the Orvis warranty department I guess.

Tom, I had a good experience with the Orvis warranty program a couple of years ago after I did something dumb with a big high water shad. I only had to replace one section though. Good luck.

Good to hear (not the doing something dumb part). I got the inter-web stuff done, a shipping label printed, and will probably drop it off tomorrow.

this oversized hybrid-like thing...

put a few of these in the net...nothing huge, but large enough to show me my backing a couple of times...doing my best long-arm technique that's all the rage...

Broken rod is an understatement. This blew up ;)

Foreshortening is a helluva drug
at least I admit it...

I'd guess this one went 35 easy....prolly 37.

In all seriousness, my buddy thinks it went 10. It was a little larger than one of his that we measured at 7.5 (only one we took the time to actually get a weight) but I have my doubts that it hit double figures. But, we'll never know for sure, so I'm gonna call it 35.
