What are you listening to?

Re Rush... In my family, the first album I ever saved up and bought was Rush's Exit Stage Left. It's up there with double albums of all time, right there with London Calling, The Wall, Blonde on Blonde. So, anyway, my older brother's first album was Styx, Paradise Theatre (his second, just so the trend is evident, was the musical equivalent of a Safeway sheet cake, ABBA's Souper Trooper, while I was laying my hard-earned lawn-mowing cash down for my second album, the Police's Zenyatta Mondatta).

In the dumb world of childhood pettiness, sibling rivalry, old jokes, trivial ridiculousness, your music sucks etc. nearly 45 years later I still tease him about how lame that Styx album is. I guess the irony is brother J is way into record collecting now and has an amazing collection of eclectic dub, reggae, ska, afrobeat etc. His LP library is floorboard-warping, house smells like an old record store kind of mustiness, way over the top. Such that he can now say "my record collection is way cooler than yours"

As a reformed former record collector...
I can smell the place through the internet.

He clearly was so affected by your honestly 100% valid teasing that he is still reacting. But, the true irony is that you still win based on that highly concerning early trend of his. True colors and all.

First tape I bought was Tom Petty Full Moon Fever. I don't remember the second tape. First CD was Temple of the Dog.

Matt That Tom Petty is basically equivalent to a walk-off homer.... side one, some musical types say, is among the greatest sides of any album in the history of time.

So now the rivalry has it's own dumberer evolution

BOOT: record collecting is one of the gateway drugs to a hoarding lifestyle.... might as well take in some stray cats and BTW, I got you a plastic bag full of dozen more bags, some of them are clean, so you can use them on your new life journey...
JBOOT, BOOT'S BROTHER: Lemme just turn down Stand Down Margaret because I can't hear your nonsense over the music

Worked several of their shows back in the 80’s. I always enjoyed their performances.
