What Are You Eating?

NYE sushi dinner. Veggie tempura, a couple veggie rolls, spicy tuna roll and torched albacore belly.
That looks AMAZING! And delicious. My wife and I had traditional soba (pure buckwheat) last night with tempura. We're heading over to our daughters place later this morning for ozoni soup. It's fun to be able to shop in good Japanese markets and find quality Japanese foods for these traditional meals.

Happy New Year!

We had a few friends over for our, what's come to be traditional, gathering. Same ole, same ole, ham and scalloped potatoes from Costco. Easy to fix and everyone likes it, plus a green salad and vegetable dish. And almost more bottles of wine than I could open. And everyone went home around 10 to 10:30; we don't do midnight any longer. Bunch of old fuddy duddies.

Blackeyed peas and collard greens are done and sampled and will be enjoyed again later with the addition of rice and some ham biscuits.

This morning I spread leftover smoked salmon dip on toast with sautéed spinach and a gooey fried egg.

You are not alone.

Good to hear!

Hell yes! I currently have an open pack in the fridge and a backup for when that runs out. I occasionally find myself perusing the local Eastern European markets for the good stuff. I’m kind of a fiend 🤣

I hear you. This was just a quick impulse buy as I saw it staring at me while at Freddy’s today. There are lots of better options out there but this will do for a quick fix. I wish I knew what brands I used to eat at my Russian and German grandparents house as a kid.
I’m also a big fan of liver and onions with some bacon of course. I was at the Poodle Dog recently and it was on their menu. The waitress came back and said “sir, I’m sorry but we are sold out of liver”. It was only 4:00 but definitely an older, eat dinner early crowd. Bless their hearts. 😉

Is it possible they didn’t have any because they didn’t order any because nobody was ordering it?

Love me some liverwursr...or as we called it back east as a kid Braunschweiger.

Good stuff

Could be, but I’ve had it there before and I just looked and it’s still on the menu. I’m hoping it was because folks were loading up on their iron. 😂

Go across the big road next time you’re at Poodle Dog. There are a few good options for liverwurst and other cured meats at Emish Market.
