NFR What Are You Drinking?

Sooo…I’m not a big cocktail guy, there are only a couple I drink…however, I was at Buzz’s on Kailua beach last night and had their 38 Minutes, named after the ICBM scare in Hawaii in 2018…it took 38 minutes for the gov’t to declare it a false alarm.

Bulleit bourbon, muddled mint, velvet falurnum, peach bitters, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup…shaken & strained…served on crushed ice

Back when I was doing whisk(e)y work, I frequently had multiple partial bottles of the same whiskey on hand left over from various events and tastings that I had hosted. I would marry them together to make full bottles and recycle the empties. I'm sure the guy that collected my recycling bins was convinced that I was a raging alcoholic.
 
Athletic Brewing Run Wild - looking at the good scotch I used to drink. A lot of very good stuff sitting on the shelf. Including some Westland special issues...

Speaking of cocktails..... Has anybody heard from Bill the whiskey guy that lives with his mom in Redmond?
Always in sandals and socks, reading glasses on the tip of his nose?

Have you ever had a Vieux Carré? Same as a Negroni but with bourbon or rye in place of gin.

Well…..I buy a 30 pack of Coors light at Safeway for $27.00! @ $1.11 per can! Last time I paid a buck a beer was a long time ago at keggers…..red plastic cup mostly foam and cheap ass beer! 🍺
 
We had quite a few of these in Spain, Tinto de Verano. Basically lemonade and red wine and a lot of ice. This is premixed and so easy to see the ingredients.

Turns out all of the locals we met love these and don’t drink sangria as too sweet, too warm and too much fruit. We agreed, perfect for a
cooling break on the cafe stops on our roaming.

Beer? I've seen this commercial where the "most interesting man in the world" doesn't often drink beer but when I do etc. My wife says I'm the least interesting person in the world because all I ever talk about is Oregon football and fly fishing. I rarely miss a day drinking beer and when I don't I always drink Henry Weinhards Private Reserve. But beside that, I'm a fan of good amber ales and there are many brewed locally but so far my favorite has been from Seven Seas in Gig Harbor and Copper Line Amber from Backwoods Brewing in Carson.
 
I'm learning about ice. "Pebble ice" is a thing. Who knew? And "Sonic Ice" is also a thing...you can buy it by the pound at "Sonics" restaurants. Who knew?
I bought some "pebble ice" plastic ice cube trays and filled them with "seltzer water". Apparently this is the closest thing you can make to the actual "Sonic Ice ". We all like the taste of an icey drink from fast food..partly because of the ice.
My seltzer water pebble ice, is a huge improvement over the regular ice cubes I've been using my entire life. I got the trays with the bin and the ice scoop on Amazon. I upt my ice game! And now, all my drinks (alcoholic or not) just seem better.
