NFR What Are You Drinking?

Non-fishing related

Two of my favorites...
Thank you! There are so many choices. So far we have reservations at Patrizia Cencioni, Bindella, and La Fornace. Staying in an agriturismo near Montepulciano for four nights so lots of time to explore.

I've been a kind of Washington wine snob so it will be interesting to broaden my interests.

Like I said...I'm envious...Brunello is my favorite and closely followed by Chianti, followed by anything else from Tuscany.
There's a place in Greve (Vignamaggio) if you get that far in your explorations that's pretty cool, and up the hill is Ristoro Lamole, where a nice meal with killer views can be had. So much to see abd do, hard to high grade the options when it's all pretty damn cool imho.

When it’s an Irish I rarely choose other than Writers Tears

Single malt, single copper pot
I'm a little biased toward Bushmills, particularly the 16-year Single Malt. Double matured in both ex-bourbon and oloroso sherry casks, then finished in port casks. But then, I once worked for the brand. I've had the Writer's Tears. A fine whiskey by any standard.

I'm a Redbreast fan! Writers Tears was decent, Shane surprised me a lot and is good. The higher end Jamesons are fantastic, but Redbreast Cask Strength or Olorosso as a daily and the 21 for special occasions. I actually liked the 21 over the 27!

There is an article on Westland Distilling in today’s Sunday paper.
They started in a carport next to our family place on Mason Lake.
We got to sample their first batches.
I have a few bottles - including Solum & Garryana, and some of their cask condition bottles.

Westland is great! I have a few bottles, some single barrel picks and have tried most of their special releases over the years.

I call them a PNW single malt as they use grains from up in the Skagit valley which is one of the reasons they were bought.

I also got to bottle with them one time and that was a blast!

Cheers!

For any of you SW WA or NW OR folks who like whisk(e)y, I’m hosting a tasting next Saturday, the 25th at Washougal Times at 3pm. I’d love to see you there.

If you can make it go! I went to one, actually a benefit, the Breck put together and it was fantastic! Both the food and the paired whiskies! Those are some great whiskies too! I'm only a Master of Whisk(e)y in my own mind! Slainte!
