It's probably much better than you might think. I had this red rice beer from either Kyoto or Hitachino that was totally bomb. Hitachino's "Nest" (look for their very cool baby owl logo) is also a very good craft beer.

This was wonderful. Friend who lives in Anchorage brought it down for me in like 2017. I tend to not enjoy barleywines unless they have a few years of age on them. This one had 10yrs to get right.

10 years is a good bit to wait, but I bet it was quite good at that age.
I have had some at 7 that were definitely much improved from release, but never 10.

Agreed. I enjoyed a tamarind Jarritos with tacos today.
I love those spicy salty sour sweet tamarind-chile Mexican candies too.

In some of the heavier whiskeys they're just distillin em low. Just leaving the crud in there for a HEAVIER whiskey. I like a good Heavy Whiskey. Seeing em up high alcohol these days!!!

Tamarind! So underutilized.

I made a fairly big batch of tamarind syrup with a block of pulp, water and sugar. The hardest part is taking the time to strain the mash through a sieve. It has lasted in the fridge for about 6 months now. It’s a great addition to homemade lemon or limeade as well.

Made one with some friends a long time ago, had a lot of fun brewing it. Finally finished the last bottle in 2015 as I recall, it was 20 years old. Tasted real good. Our patience was rewarded.
