I am looking at buying a TV. Haven't bought one since the 90's...
Primarily sports viewing, streaming is the source, no gaming, under a grand.

Just bought a Samsung 50" TV last week. I always buy from VideoOnly. All they sell primarily are TV's. They know their products and pay cash for their inventory. They only buy quality TV's. If one is near you, visit them. If not, look at their ad for brand, model, and prices...

BTW, TV's now only last 7 to 10 years on average.

LG when hooked up to an antenna has an on-screen guide to the channels.

Just purchased a new LG TV from Costco when my 25 year old TV crapped the bed. It wasn't expensive and will do everything that I need and most likely more were I technologically more adept. Knowing I could return it no questions asked if I found it unsatisfactory was a big pIus. I use it mostly for sports and the occasional movie on Netflix or Prime Video.

TVs are on sale at most retailers right now. Fred Meyer has them on sale for 50% off. 50% off of what? VideoOnly still beat their price...

Just make sure the one you buy has a wide viewing angle and works well for the ambient lighting (sun) in your room...

As @albula said, TVs do so much more than ones that are 5 - 10 years old.

I'd recommend going on Amazon and ordering a FireStick. They're inexpensive and easy to use. As for apps, for sports, you can't go wrong with Fubo. You can get packages for just the sport(s) that you want to watch (NFL, NHL, MLB, etc.) for $25-$35 per month each, or you can pay around $100 per month for the whole kit and caboodle. I pretty much watch only MLB and NFL and have no interest in college sports so I just pay for those two to the tune of about $55. Expensive, yes, but still cheaper than cable or satellite.

If you use Verizon as your phone provider, they have discounted packages for Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ and also Netflix/HBO Max. Prime video is included with your Amazon Prime membership.
