A huge part of what made it so funny.Holy shit. Thats like a $6k mistake. But considering he has two Oysters, he probably can afford a second tuna trip![]()
We’ll see if he manages to bring the entire rod next week.

What day next week? I want to see that thing in action!A huge part of what made it so funny.

A stupid easy, and stupid effective way to put tuna in the boat. Maybe not the most exciting, but can come in handy if they are staying deep. Flat sides are more exciting but require a lot of effort and technique to work them. The strikes are bone jarring. The other jig category is "surface iron". These are smaller, slimmer and meant for casting. A popular model for this is the Shimano Colt Sniper. I really want to get a quality "gun rod" spin outfit specifically for this. Seeing a jumper patch just out of fly range is almost unbearable.dumb question. What’s a flat fall?
Yeah, surface iron is where it's at. Coltsnipers are what got me in to it and have definitely put the most fish in my boat, but I'm using more Mustad Zippy jigs lately. One issue with the Coltsniper is they tend to foul on themselves a lot, especially if you swap out the crappy treble hooks with single point assist hooks. But, both jigs are always rigged up on my boat at all times.A stupid easy, and stupid effective way to put tuna in the boat. I’ll try to leave a couple for you.Right behind you on Thursday. Go find em for us please!
And I’m with Silverfly so the boat has three of the main crew. By that I mean 3 of us that have been chasing albacore on the fly for I think it’s 9 years now. Please help me with that Cabezon.Right behind you on Thursday. Go find em for us please!
That sounds like an awesome group to go with. How do I get on the waitlist for next year? And I’m with Silverfly so the boat has three of the main crew. By that I mean 3 of us that have been chasing albacore on the fly for I think it’s 9 years now. Please help me with that Cabezon.
Will do, assuming I don’t break any more camera equipment. I’m currently down 1 drone, 2 bodies, and a lens.@Jake Watrous & @SilverFly , I'd better be seeing some of those fast fish pics...
Sounds like I feel every morning when I wake up, Im currently down “ XX”Will do, assuming I don’t break any more camera equipment. I’m currently down 1 drone, 2 bodies, and a lens.
Yes, it is you (@Bagman), @SilverFly, @SteelHeadDave, and me on Thursday, and you, @SilverFly, @Buzzy, and me on Saturday. According to my trip reports, I think that we have been fishing (or at least attempting) at least one day a season for albacore since a weekend in Garibaldi in October, 2019 (which also included @alpinetrout).And I’m with Silverfly so the boat has three of the main crew. No problem, I can add you to my spreadsheet and include you in the general call for interest in early January. [Actually, it looks like you are already on my spreadsheet. So look for a PM from me in January...]That sounds like an awesome group to go with. How do I get on the waitlist for next year?
So are swimbaits just for ding dongs? Because I think casting shit at tuna or where tuna might be is pretty fun. And I’ve caught some doing that with swim baits and I didn’t hate it, I gotta admit.Yeah, surface iron is where it's at. Swimbaits work too, but I find them say more effective on the troll than casting. My move with them typically is to have one way back in the troll spread and to just let it hang on stops. I've caught most my swimbait fish on my boat doing that.So are swimbaits just for ding dongs? Because I think casting shit at tuna or where tuna might be is pretty fun. I'm excited to try out this new and very exciting fishery; and to be part of this astute group! Ditto on the spreadsheet! As Arnold said "I'll be back"!No problem, I can add you to my spreadsheet and include you in the general call for interest in early January.
