Does switching the clock twice a year suck?

I've been doing yard work after I get back from work and it'll get too dark for me to get much done in the evening now. I would much rather have it be dark in the morning if I'm either gonna be in my house or sitting in a room with fluorescent lights.

I remember a clever time joke I heard while learning to fly at the Aero Club of Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, AK. A pilot on the taxi way called the tower and asked for a time check. The tower controller responded with a question: “before I can tell you the time, I need to know what kind of aircraft you are piloting. “ The pilot annoying asked “why should that make a difference?” The controller response was instructive.

If you are a Cessna 150 from Aero Club, the time is 4 PM.
If you are an F-15 from the 73rd Fighter Wing, the time is 1600
If you are a C-141 Airlifter, the time is 0100 Zulu
If you are a C-130 Garbage Hauler, the time is Friday

In some environments, time is a matter of perspective.

I’d venture that it always is.

Considering I’m half German this should be noted as indication that we all can learn new things.

I think it's great changing clocks is a small inconvenience I like it being light when I get off work. As a matter of fact I think it's awesome.

Being retired, no issue at all.
Go to bed when sleepy. Wake-up when ready. Take a nap during boring games.

I usually do not even what DOW it is. My calendar is full of games I want to watch.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard quite such a full throated and unqualified endorsement of the semiannual time change. I appreciate and respect that. Cheers, Rob.

After living in Hawaii for four decades and not having to deal with daylight savings, it is kinda weird to have to change the watch…just the other day, I showed up at a store that should have been open, but I had forgot to change the time on my wrist

Imagine living near the equator. Everyday of the year the sun is up at 7am and dark at 7pm. Predictable but monotonous.

The reason there's more light when you get off work is simple: You went to work and started your shift an hour earlier despite what the (now transformed) clock told you.

Change the hours. Leave the clocks alone.

Yea…waking up at the same time every morning in the Maldives or Kiribati stalking the flats and having raw fish and beer at the same time every evening…that would be tough…
Yeah sounds awful, just a horrible life.

I fall asleep too early or wake up too early either way! Darn genetics from my dad. I think my body does better on DST but it's hard to tell because of seasonal affect. I like my clock in tune with the sun though.
Really doesn't matter, whatever.

The time change has to be one of the dumbest things in the world. I assume politicians did this for some jerkoff reason. I read once it was supposed to help farmers. I have worked in the agriculture industry before. Farmers don’t care what the clock says or fr that matter what the calendar says. The ground, weather and the crops themselves will determine what the farmers need to do.

Just another stupid move by someone in govt to piss the rest of us off. Like so many other things, just leave the Clock alone. It's doing better without your 'adjustments'. My furry alarm clocks are still waking up at their usual time and don't really care what the official time is, they just want to be fed.

Everything you ever wanted to know about the history of DST...Clock changing...probably more than most want to know.
I blame the Romans for starting it, and the Germans just because why not.
😁
