Wish I could help. Without the right tools, I have found leatherwork to be difficult to do. I have spent years trying to track down the correct sheath or pouch for a handful of knives. Ebay, and other sources, can be helpful, but often, people want more than they're worth. One issue I have with my knife collection is missing or disintegrating sheaths. If anyone has a variety of knife sheaths, or the tools and know how to make them, I'd make a nice trade at the swap meet for a great sheath for a couple of my favorite older knives.
Custom 'rigger's knife' by San Juan Island knife maker, Dave Ber. Fun combination of materials.
View attachment 150279Thanks for the name drop. I've been looking for a local knife maker.
Thanks! I'm currently thinking about buying a speedy stitcher and some pop rivets to repair my sheaths that still have good leather. Also, look up Kramer Leather out of Tacoma. I've got 3 holsters from him made of horsehide that are between 10 and 30 years old.
I had a Kramer pocket holster for about two decades. It was so built, that I ended up selling it for more than I paid for it.Also, look up Kramer Leather out of Tacoma. I've got 3 holsters from him made of horsehide that are between 10 and 30 years old.
I received another old Schrade 152, this one with a nicer than stock sheath. The sheath is a little loose, so I plan to re wet form the leather.
