The original knife thread.

One issue I have with my knife collection is missing or disintegrating sheaths. If anyone has a variety of knife sheaths, or the tools and know how to make them, I'd make a nice trade at the swap meet for a great sheath for a couple of my favorite older knives.

Wish I could help. Without the right tools, I have found leatherwork to be difficult to do. I have spent years trying to track down the correct sheath or pouch for a handful of knives. Ebay, and other sources, can be helpful, but often, people want more than they're worth.

I needed a scabbard/sheath for an Estwing hatchet. I cut out and tooled the pieces and then took the pieces to a motorcycle shop that had a tailor that made all the leather gear for their customers. I gave the tailor the pieces and described what I wanted. She had the proper machines and tools to assemble the scabbard including heavy stitching, rivets, and snaps. Looked better than the original!
