Thank you all for avoiding political/election debates here on PNWFF...

and that's exactly why we like it this way. I personally have removed myself from all other social media as of a few years ago. Currently, I'm also taking a break from consuming any news. My mental health does so much better when I spend more time doing more productive things.
I hear ya. I went with positive affirmations on youtube instead of the usual morning news before work today.

This will be the closest I will make to a political statement: But I can't recommend changing these news and "news" consumption habits enough. Replace them with something more productive or uplifting. I know the way I vote won't change much whether I consume 8mins per week or 8hrs per week in news. I DO know that the more I take in, the bigger hit my mental health takes.

Concentrating on my health/fitness (moreso than usual, but it's always a priority) and getting some big projects started and others finished. Also been taking extra time to give my wife and step son more attention and affection. It's profound how big a difference it can make for you.

I agree, Evan. I've been off and on a news diet the last year, and back on again. It just winds up my anxiety. Time outdoors and time with friends and family is great medicine.

And I just want to pile on - the mods, and the people here, make this the best little corner of the internet. Thanks, guys.

And in conclusion:
San Juans are old news. It's all about Squirmy Worms now.
Soft plastics are bait.

Want to echo what Josh and Evan have already said. We really value our community here and enjoy this journey together. The trip reports, knowledge sharing, pictures, thoughts and on and on really make this in my opinion the best fly fishing community around!

Excellent advice.
Though I still have the equipment, I've kind of cut the cord on TV. Except for watching football in the fall, I rarely turn it on anymore.
I'm now preferring to listen to classic rock while doing stuff rather then watching the tube. I plan to take all the equipment back to Comcast once the Super Bowl is over.

Yeah, our living room TV has only been used for football for like the last 2yrs. Admittedly, my favorite downtime is videogames, which has always been my preferred passive media intake vs TV and movies. I do that a fair bit during the winter when it's crappy and dark out. But only after gymming, running, and working on a project or 2.

Kill your TV...
Except for football.
;)

I am cutting back on football this year, only watched about 25% the NFL games as usual, and skipped about half the Seahawks games too.
There's other stuff to do, and I still follow the games, but just listen on the radio while doing other stuff.
22 years without a TV of my own next year, and don't miss it...and certainly don't miss TV news, or commercials.

Long story short: Wife goes to Japan for work every year and has long dreamed of one of them fancy pants Japanese shitters. So by golly, I'm determined to make that happen. But the scope of that plan blew up to a full bathroom remodel, which will begin in the next week.

Oh hell yeah. I dream of that also--but in the meantime--our Tushy works well enough.

Yeah, but add a swivel to that bobber rig and it’s a bridge too far. Gloves come off at that point.
What about a swivel with a big streamer setup? Where is this line drawn!?

I'll be honest, I'm waning on football as well. It's just not a Seahawks thing. I used to get invested in the whole league and watch a lot of games. But frankly, the product has been slipping more and more every year to the point that it's kinda hard for me to care much. I'm not as entertained as I used to be, and overall isn't providing me with much positives to walk away with.

As someone who was born and raised a Cowboys fan, I had to cut NFL out of my regular consumption about 15 years ago. I'll consider the possibility of watching them more regularly once Jerry expires.

Yeah its not catching my attention as much. I've watched it for long enough, about 60 years now, to where it's gotten a bit boring anymore.
That and frankly, given the salaries these days, I have some recriminations about supporting it, just a bit tired of the whole thing I guess.

Seen a few Coog games, listen on the radio to a few others, but rarely watch NCAA football anymore, it's a time thing...Can't devote 3 hours plus to sitting on my butt.

Evan...adopt a local HS team to root for :). HS football is pure as spring water.

Sorry for dragging down the overall IQ of the forum

Mostly sports (mostly NFL) here. Very little actual news from the TV. I have very little interest in political opinion shows, their value is a net negative imo.

Shoot, most of Tuesday was spent watching a couple of rerun NBA games.

Outside of sports, on our main TV, YouTube gets a bit of play with mostly my kid's animation stuff, reptile stuff, and tarantula stuff (I'm at a baker's dozen in the house there...)...just fascinating (to me).

Wise decision!
Jerry is a complete idiot. 😂
