NFR Snow today

Non-fishing related
The snow accumulation and the forecast around my place continue to be just a tease. It's driving my kids crazy.
The kids are now happy. Parents, not so much. What’s much much worse than a good ol’ normal Snow Day? How about “remote instruction” with a 2-hr delayed start (for a 1st and 3rd grader in my case). My first work meeting starts in an hour…

Feels totally wrong to have a snow day when there’s not enough snow to go sledding!

It has been less than I expected overnight. It is coming down pretty steady again. Had another inch since this pic.

Looking more serious now.

I had to go out and shake the snow off my blueberry cage tops (chicken wire) because the snow was causing sagging!!!

There were deer and elk tracks around the tree and berry cages!

It's dumb. Remote school from 9:55 to 1:10, mostly tech issues for an hour, totally dumb, not worth it for anybody. As to enough snow to sled, that depends how steep a hill and how desperate a kid is for some sledding. Mine got some slides in the street out front this morning. It helped that I pulled them.

I see a big band of snow is hitting Oly now and heading north.

Well, it took a while but there is now a bona fide 20'' of snow on the ground here on the tundra. And it ain't goin' anywhere with below zero temps forecast for the next few days. January was almost springlike but February-being jealous because it is the shortest month-is overcompensating with a big snow dump and sub zero temps. I am a little less worried about snow buildup than before but here at the ranch there are often 7' high snow berms this time of the year and several of them as that is as high as I can pile snow with my tractor. Right now I don't think there is anything over 4' high out there.

With the season not opening until late April over here we already have a truncated season and with July and August being too hot to lake fish we end up with only about 5 months of the year to fish. This year I hope to fish early and often then look for something about 9,000' when lake temps rise.

The first flakes just blasted in riding a 40mph wind wave. It's about to get real nasty out there.
