Smith Optics warranty service report

Tagging along with Matt’s wading boot thread. I checked in with Smith on a pair of sunglasses that recently started to come apart. They have been my most-used pair since around 2020. I read the warranty info on the site and started by sending an email asking about options for repairs. They responded within 12 hours suggesting I submit a warranty claim form. The claim relies on providing photos of the issue. Easy peasy. I submitted my claim and within hours they approved it and sent me a voucher code to cover the estimated original cost of the glasses. I say estimated because I didn’t have documentation so they asked for date and location of the purchase and gave me a fair amount to put towards a new pair. I had to send a photo documenting destruction of my original pair.

So what did I choose? An option for anglers of a certain age that don’t see the up close stuff like they used to…

I've had good experiences with both Smith's and Suncloud's (owned by Smith) warranty dept. Easy to submit and fair results.

good idea...do you have to have an eye prescription?, or just ask for a specific magnification?

Costa was similar but slower and more PITA. Ultimately I just superglued the rubber ear guard back on and kept rolling with my pair of Reeftons.

My favorite pair of polarized shades ever were Smiths. I got them for a great deal on sale. Pretty sure at Big 5 of all places. Had them several seasons before losing them. Pretty sure I left them on the hood of my 1994 Isuzu Trooper after scouting along Ben Howard Rd. RIP

Big SMITH fan and love their sunglasses the most. Chroma Pop is the real deal and worth the expense.

But... once I got my new prescription last year, I could no longer use them as I have a weird prescription that they can't fill. So had to go with another brand that I don't like as much :(

Do you not look as awesome?

Hah, well... my regular glasses are still Smiths because I had the frames and my optometrist could just pop in lenses they had produced. The sunglasses I could do the same with, but my optometrist can't do the ChromaPop lenses and the polarized lenses they DO make are quite inferior to what Smith, Maui Jim, Costa etc produce. Which sucks for me :(
