Simms Bought for $192 Million

So, I've been nursing my G3's for several years, is now the time to replace them? I can't see how this won't result in cost (read: corner) cutting.

I saw on IG someone posted part of a slideshow that said "Accelerate customer acquisition through owned retail". Does that mean Simms retail stores, or Simms owned fly-shops? I'm sure local fly shops that have helped build up the brand will love that...

I could see them maybe buying a place like The Fly Shop that also has a big travel component connected to it.
If they ever did something like that, would they still offer other competing brands in the shop?

I just bought Dryft waders. Washington company that im thrilled to support. Not a fan of anything that comes out of Montana nor Idaho these days. Considering trading my winston in for an Echo or Sage too.

Alliant Technology Systems makes a lot of bomb components and has its hand in missile warheads and artillery shells too.

The one thing still coming from Montana are great memories of fishing with lots of fish. Would be hard pressed to trade it for something from Washington or Idaho.
 
I've mostly migrated away from Simms; I can usually find better products, for less money.

My Simms wading staff and sungaiter aren't likely to be replaced any time soon, though. You would think those are relatively easy to make, but other companies seem to always get them wrong.
 
Considering each pair of G4s I get seem to never die, and I just got another pair a couple years ago, I probably have a decade before I need to consider who my next pair will come from.

Still know a lot of great people at Simms. As long as those folks are around I'll continue to be a fan. I also think Dryft is a great PNW brand and wouldn't hesitate to go that route either.
 
As I get older my buying anything fly fishing wise is slowing down big time. I used to stop into Frontier Anglers and buy a few flies before I venture out. I have so many flies now I won't ever need to buy any more. People have set me up with more flies than I'll ever use. I'm set with fly rods also.

My last pair of waders I bought about 20 years ago that I never wear anymore. Dan Bailey's Bare Bones that don't leak will probably just fall apart from not wearing them. I haven't worn waders for about 10 years ago or so. I don't have to get wet where I fish, so they just sit in the bag that they came in.
 
It's a bummer for someone who relies on a custom shop like I do. Simms is the only place I can find waders that fit my feet and inseam.
