2. they will move offshore, sooner or later
3. "community" is feelings, and there's more than one path to feelings. they will find another path - and as long as it is the feelings of 1.000 people versus 100 people, they will be happy regardless of where those people live.
4. familiarity matters more than dumb/smart. once "skwala" becomes familiar, it won't matter that nobody knows what it means or whether it is artful.
